◼️⚫🅾

“◼️⚫🅾” culminates a four yearslong choreographic exploration of geometric shapes: spatially, geometrically, and physically. While this sounds simple, complexity arises from extremely rigorous application. This hourlong quintet features original sound design by Ross Daniel utilizing the sonic landscape created by the movement itself. The dance began from a small handful of movement phrases that have been iterated, shifted, and transformed to create a seemingly endless volume of phrases all linked by cadence and quality. It is a performance of rigor without progress, what makes the continued effort enjoyable is the community. Each individual in the cast participates for the group, we resonate on the power that emerges from individual efforts towards a common goal.

Sarah Rose is excited to be collaborating with Penn Burrall, Ross Daniel, Helen Greider, and Solana McGonagle for the Chimera Art Co-Lab experimental artist residency at Farmsprung Gatherings. The quintet will be in residence from July 11-18, 2026 with a performance of the project at Farmsprung Gatherings on July 18.

The development of “◼️⚫🅾” has been supported by MOtiVE Brooklyn, Chez Bushwick, Chashama, SMUSH Gallery, The Tank, GreenSpace, and Farmsprung Gatherings.
